This Privacy Policy explains how YourFavTeacher ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use our website and services (the "Service").

Summary

We collect account and profile information you provide, plus content you post/send (requests, proposals, messages, materials).
We use this data to operate the Service, keep it safe, and improve the experience.
We use trusted processors like Supabase for database/auth/storage and (when enabled) Stripe for payments.
Your published tutor profile is public. Requests and materials may be reviewed before becoming visible to other users.

1. Information We Collect

Account data: email, user ID, authentication metadata.
Profile data: name, role (student/tutor), subjects, languages, city, hourly rate, teaching modes, photos you upload.
User content: lesson requests, tutor proposals, messages, tutoring materials and other content you submit.
Technical data: IP address, device/browser information, logs and approximate location derived from IP.
Payments (if enabled): subscription status and invoices. We do not store full card details; payments are handled by Stripe.

2. How We Use Information

To provide and maintain the Service (accounts, profiles, search, messaging).
To personalize the experience (language and filters).
To moderate content and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
To provide customer support and respond to requests.
To understand usage and improve performance and features.

3. Legal Bases (GDPR/EEA)

If you are in the EEA/UK, we process personal data under one or more of these bases: performance of a contract (providing the Service), consent (where requested), legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, improvements), and legal obligations (tax, compliance).

Service providers (processors): providers used to operate the Service such as Supabase, hosting, email and analytics vendors, and Stripe (if payments are enabled).
Other users: published tutor profiles are publicly visible; approved lesson requests are visible to tutors; messages are visible only to participants in a conversation.
Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect users and the Service.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies/local storage for essential functionality such as authentication and preferences. Your browser may let you block cookies, but parts of the Service may not work properly.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion; we may retain certain data where required for legal, security or dispute-resolution purposes.

7. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information (access controls, encryption in transit, least-privilege). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
